Our Story
Our roots trace back to Alwar, Rajasthan — like so many Marwari families, ours left the arid hills of Rajasthan generations ago in search of opportunity, and found a second home in Kolkata. Three generations later, our family — and thousands like ours — remain woven into the fabric of this city, while still carrying forward the language, customs, and values of where we came from.
This site exists because that story is common, but rarely documented. Every Marwari family in Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Guwahati, or further afield abroad has its own version of this journey — a grandfather who arrived with little, a family business built from scratch, a community that showed up when it mattered. BaniyaMarwari.com is a place to gather those stories, and to make the community more connected and more useful to itself today.
What This Site Is For
